I planted the potatoes in a new spot this year. The ground is clay-ey and VERY hard. My potatoes were very small as a result. Still, I went out to dig some. They would make good canned potatoes that I can toss into a pot roast later on. And look what I dug up, along with my baby 'taters. A baby box turtle :)

Look at that beautiful mug. Shy, to be sure - but also beautiful, in a turtley way.

And a profile, just for good measure. Click and view the large image if you want a better glimpse of the lovely textures on his (her?) shell.

you are back??? I missed you : )
Are you going to keep Mr. Turtle? I wonder how old he/she is.
How is postal?
Oh, I'm back for the moment. I always have the greatest of intentions, then I get busy. We let the turtle go. There are already too many critters to feed and water every day around here. Postal is thin. I've got some new pics of her so I'll post about her soon.
Turtle is just beautiful! Great pics.
Any update on your bunnies?
I love turtles and always stop to get them off the dang road! Anyhow, this is a great tiny turtle pic...well done!
That's cool. So far, we've only gotten taters. :( For which we're grateful, of course, but a turtle would be nice. Of course, Ernie would say something awful like "soup," so perhaps it's for the best. :)
Love the turtle, it must be about a year old. I have one that looks just like it.
That is the cutest little tater turtle ever. Maybe leave it a lil chunk o' potater and let it about its business :)
